From Coachee to Coach: My Transformative Journey with Dr. Krishna Athal

When I go back to my first coaching session with Dr. Krishna Athal, I remember feeling a bit lost and confused about the future, which looked blurry through my eyes. The first session had an intense impact on me because I found clarity in terms of my purpose, and I got a deeper perspective on myself, and it was through an angle I had not explored before. Dr. Krishna Athal helped me understand my triggers and made me realise that we are a product of our childhood. A trigger is a stimulus that causes a reaction, often an intense or negative emotional response, related to a past experience. Recognising our triggers allows us to understand and manage our reactions more effectively, leading to improved relationships and overall quality of life.

Dr. Krishna Athal helped me realise my own life values, which is a question that no one has ever asked me before. I realised that when we live a life following our values, we live a fulfilled and purposeful life. This question illuminated my path to why I wanted to become a life coach. I realised that being able to put a smile on a person’s face makes me feel so happy and fulfilled, and it made me realise my love for wanting to help people. Our life purpose is what makes us truly feel alive deep inside our core. This question also led me to a journey of self-discovery, values clarification, and vision.

As the next sessions unfolded, I found even greater clarity of my goals. I embarked on the journey of learning about life coaching and through the intensive research that Dr. Krishna Athal asked me to do, and through the reflective questions about myself, the spark of my passion for life coaching started to ignite. I realised that life coaching is a totally different concept that is not about giving advice to people but empowering them through insightful and powerful questioning. Life coaching centres around the belief that people are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. It is about setting and achieving goals in many areas of life, including business, health and well-being, career, relationships, and work-life balance.

Dr. Krishna Athal and I engaged in many discussions about the life coaching industry, where I also learned about the life coaching framework and code of ethics. I learned how life coaching is different from other practices such as therapy and mentoring. Moreover, I learned about coaching frameworks such as the GROW model and other tools used in coaching. Furthermore, I learned about the importance of emotional intelligence and self-awareness in coaching. I also enhanced my knowledge in the different terminologies used in coaching. Dr. Krishna and I also engaged in practical sessions where I understood how a coaching session is conducted in real practice. I also learned about the importance of body language in coaching. It took another dimension after the coaching sessions, where I got deeper into it, and I submerged into it through reading books and reflecting on myself. I also did intensive research on life coaching, which helped me a lot.

Dr. Krishna Athal actually ignited a fire of infinite discovery of myself. It feels like an ever-ending journey of self-awareness, compassion, and self-acceptance, and I believe there is a whole lot to continue learning and experience.

Dr. Krishna Athal has got a unique approach towards coaching and has a tremendous power to reach a person’s core and help them break their barriers.

Following my course, I felt more empowered, confident, and more self-aware and started to look at things from different perspectives and thinking outside the box. I believe that this is only the beginning of a new dimension. I personally believe that life coaching empowers people to find their own inner light deep inside their core while honouring their life values and life purpose. Hence, they are able to live a fulfilling life.

A beautiful definition that I came across during my research defines that life coaching is about unleashing unchartered potential, helping people become their best selves, and drive change. Resilience turns into determination, empathy into energy, and ideas into action, individual ripples that grow into collective waves of change.

Life coaching can help people with career transitions and professional development, goal setting and personal achievements, work-life balance, mental health and stress management, confidence and self-esteem building, relationships coaching, personal growth and self-awareness, leadership, time management, and many more.

This is what life coaching has made me experience, and I want other people to live their experience as well by recognising their inner light and strength, leading them to achieve their highest potential and highest goals. I am looking forward to continuing to enhance my knowledge in Life Coaching. That was my transformative journey with Dr. Krishna Athal from a coachee to a coach.
