My Reflections on Dr. Krishna Athal’s – The Tri-Intelligence Leadership Book

Reflecting on The Tri-Intelligence Leadership book, Dr. Krishna Athal equips leaders to lead with their mind, heart, and spirit. By integrating the Tri-Intelligence Framework – IQ (Intelligence Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), and SQ (Spiritual Quotient), the book offers powerful case studies on world leaders, deep self-reflections, and practical tools designed to help individuals enhance their IQ, EQ, and SQ.

As an entrepreneur, the Tri-Intelligence Leadership book continues to help me lead with strategy, empathy, and with a greater purpose beyond my own business. I believe that it is a book not only to be read but to integrate into our own lives, leading us to lead a more whole, authentic, and impactful life.

Intelligence Quotient – IQ – Lead with the mind

The Intelligence quotient involves the application of logical reasoning, data interpretation, decision-making, analytical thinking, and solving problems strategically. The book emphasizes the importance of evidence over assumptions and offers practical tools such as root causes analysis and other tools for decision-making.

The Intelligence quotient is a fundamental part of effective leadership however, as Dr. Krishna mentions in his book if IQ is used alone, it results in a leadership lacking in human connection and purpose.

I am cultivating my intelligence quotient through regular reading and continuous learning to enhance my own personal development. Moreover, I like the concept in the book about learning three new things in a month.

Emotional Quotient – EQ – Lead with the heart

Quoting from the book, emotional intelligence is the ability to recognise, understand, and manage one’s own emotions while also perceiving, interpreting, and influencing the feelings of others. Dr. Krishna emphasises the importance of human connections in building trust and loyalty. EQ plays an important role in resolving conflicts and increasing productivity.

Through self-awareness and emotional regulation, we can enhance our emotional intelligence. Dr. Krishna Athal offers practical tools to enhance our emotional intelligence such as journaling, mindfulness, and many others. These practices help us to become aware of our emotions, recognise our patterns, and become better leaders.

I personally practice yoga, meditation, and gratitude to enhance my emotional intelligence. Yoga and meditation help me to become present and reach clarity through peace of mind. Furthermore, I have started to engage in journaling especially when I feel triggered by external events.

Spiritual Quotient – SQ – Lead with the spirit

The Spiritual Quotient involves honouring our purpose, ethics, and a greater whole. Dr. Krishna encourages us to reflect on our life purpose and the essence of our being through deep self-reflections.

Moreover, spiritual intelligence involves choosing integrity and doing the right thing even in difficult situations. Spiritual intelligence encourages us to lead and serve beyond our own self. SQ focuses on the long-term vision and mission instead of short-term goals.

Dr. Krishna encourages us to practice self-reflection, humility, and gratitude to enhance our spiritual intelligence. The book also emphasizes on techniques such as mindfulness and meditation.

As the founder of NIRVANA, I enhance my spiritual intelligence through meditation, self-reflection, and gratitude. Furthermore, I honour my purpose, ethics, and values in my own business.

The Intersection of IQ, EQ, and SQ

As Dr. Krishna emphasizes that a leader possessing EQ without IQ may become too emotional and a leader having only SQ might be impractical. A leader possessing only IQ may lack connection and become disconnected from other people.

The intersection of IQ, EQ, and SQ ensures that a leader leads with clarity, heart, and a higher purpose leading to businesses that drive through innovation, people engagement, and integrity. This practice drives sustainable businesses and companies focusing on long-term visions while taking into consideration humanitarian causes.

The book mentions how world leaders like Nelson Mandela and Satya Nadella demonstrated the balance of the intelligence quotient, the emotional quotient, and the spiritual quotient. Additionally, Dr. Krishna illustrates real world applications and how leaders can apply the Tri-Intelligence Framework.

My Conclusion

My greatest lesson of the book is that an effective leader must possess all the three qualities of IQ, EQ, and SQ. I believe that adopting the Tri-Intelligence Framework does not happen overnight but requires a continuous self and inner work.

Dr. Krishna’s Tri-Intelligence Leadership book is whole and combines great wisdom, intensive research, and practical tools and exercises to help leaders lead with their mind, heart, and spirit. The book prompts us to reflect on what kind of leader we want to be and what legacy we want to leave behind.

As a life coach and yoga & meditation practitioner, the Tri-Intelligence Leadership book helps me to lead with clarity, empathy, and a greater purpose.

I believe that the Tri-Intelligence Leadership book can give rise to leaders who lead strategically, with empathy, and higher consciousness. They are the leaders who will drive sustainable businesses focusing not only on short-term profit but on the long-term vision.
